Hello I have found that there is a strong prevention treatment for Paralysis Tick in dogs, however it is not cheap and takes diligence.
PROBAN Tablets which are given every second day @ 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight (so if your dog is 37 kg you need to give it 4 tablets). They appear to be the most lethal to Paralysis Tick. They have to be ordered by your vet as they are not usually held in stock by most vets. PROBAN tablets are safe to use while you are also using FRONTLINE Plus. I only know that this exact combination is OK. I use both during the tick season, just to be extra careful, as I take my dog to beach areas a lot.
PROBAN tablets have to be stored in the refrigerator to ensure they remain potent.
The tablets are very, very pungent (smelly) so I use cheap camembert cheese pieces with a bit of cooked chicken or shredded tasty cheese mixed into it and rolled into small balls to disguise the tablet.
My dog is 30 kg so I have to give her 3 tablets every second day through the tick season, September to March inclusive.
I hope this helps.
Note: a] PROBAN does not guarantee it will kill Paralysis Ticks b] PROBAN does have to be administered for at least 2 weeks prior to it being able to work c] The tablets must be given every second day for Paralysis Tick.
